在考研英语的Part A 小作文部分，书信作为考查的重点所在，种类繁多。在前面我们曾就以题目为例，详细地解析过前八种书信：即建议信、投诉信、咨询信、感谢信、祝贺信、道歉信、慰问信、申请信以及求职信的写作方法及其注意事项。今天本文就对考研英语小作文中的第十种书信推荐信进行深入的分析。
推荐信，英文中称为letter of recommendation，是向收信人推荐某人或某物的信件。推荐信格式比较正规，用语正式，语气中肯。写作时，内容要符合事实，不要夸大其词、过分夸奖;说明推荐原因时，要突出相关性。
一般来说，在考研英语中，推荐信主体部分的写作可按照三个步骤进行，即三步走策略。接下来就以题目为例，具体解析一下这个策略。
例题：
Directions：
Write a letter to a friend of yours to recommend one of your favorite movies and give reasons for your recommendation.
You should write about 100 words on ANSWER SHEET 2.
Do not sign your own name at the end of the letter. Use Li Ming instead.
Do not write the address.
题目所给的规定情景是要求你向朋友写一封信，向他/她推荐一部你最喜欢的电影，并给出推荐的原因。
根据上面所提的推荐信写作三步走策略，具体操作如下：
首段：I am writing this letter to recommend you a fantastic movie, Inception, I have just watched as we always share the same taste of movies.
在推荐信中，三步走策略中的第一步是要表明写信目的。用到的英语句型仍然可以是I am writing this letter to。除此之外，鉴于推荐信中涉及到第三方，那么自然就要是写信人与第三方相熟、了解方能做出推荐之举，所以在信中要表明自己与这所推荐之物相关，增加说服性。再次，日常生活中，推荐信一般不是无缘无故就写作的，或应收信人要求，或与收信人相熟相知、欣赏品味相似，才能进行推荐，因此信中要简述写信理由。
中段：The primary factors for my recommendation are as follows. For one thing, this movie is very funny, emotional and thrilling. It explores how two people can meet in a dream and in reality with different results. For another, it also features brilliant visual effects, thanks to the talented director and advanced computer technology.
在推荐信中，表明了目的之后，接下来第二段的主要内容就是向对方展示所推荐之物/人到底有什么资格或条件来值得自己进行推荐，也就是需要呈现第三方的资格。对于本段的写作思路我们完全可以借鉴申请信的第二段，即表明资格时，考生需注意的是：首先，资格要分条陈述，切忌一锅乱炖，使之更为一目了然，也更吸引人;其次，陈述资格时，除了要叙述事实之外，还要进行进一步的阐释。
尾段：I hope that you will love it and look forward to discussing more with you.
本段中，如申请信中一样，期待对方对于这封信的反映。可用I hope that以及I am looking forward to doing这两句话。此外，鉴于此封信是写给朋友的，所以语域上可用半正式的语言，显得亲密一些。
在考研英语的书信表达中，类似的首段或尾段的套用句式比较丰富，大家需要在复习过程中进行有意的积累，并在写作中加以运用：
1. I take great pleasure in recommending to you...
2. I strongly recommend him to you with no reservations.
3. With reference to your requirements, I shall, without reservation, recommend...as an ideal candidate.
4. Therefore，I dont hesitate to recommend...as the right person for your consideration.
5. If you need any further information about his qualification, please do not hesitate to contact me.
