英语单词是由前缀、词根和后缀三部分组成的。前缀和词根共同决定单词的词义。而前缀的主要作用是表示方向、数量、时间、属性等的，也就是说，前缀是在词根的基础上对单词的词义进行方向、数量、时间、属性等方面的限定。今天我们就来重点探讨一下大纲中的这62个前缀。 老师把这62个前缀按照上面提到的这四个类别进行了大体的总结和整理，便于同学们学习。
(1)表示方向，空间位置的前缀
1)by- 表示附近，邻近，边侧
bypath, bypass(旁道)
2)circum-, circu-, 表示周围，环绕，回转
circumstance, circuit
3)cross-, 表示跨越，跨过
cross-country, crossbreed
4)de-, 表示在下，向下
