2016年考研英语(一)大纲对比前几年的大纲，可以看出，大纲对阅读模块的考查还是和往年一样，基本没有太大变化。其中，语言技能要求中有根据上下文推测生词的含义这一条。下面查字典公务员考研分享的是推测生词含义的三种方法。
1.根据词根词缀猜词义
例如：(真题2006年Text1)In spite of endless talk of difference, American society is an amazing machine for homogenizing people.There is the democratizing uniformity of dress and discourse，and the casualness and absence of deference characteristic of popular culture.People are absorbed into a culture of consumption launched by the 19th-century department stores that offered vast arrays of goods in an elegant atmosphere.Instead of intimate shops catering to a knowledgeable elitethese were stores anyone could enter，regardless of class or background.This turned shopping into a public and democratic act. The mass media， advertising and sports are other forces for homogenization.

我们不看文章，先看选项。Homogenizing这个词语大家可能不认识，没有关系，通过词根词缀分析，我们知道homo-表示相同的，gen-表示基因而选项A中，identi-表示识别(我们的身份证ID card,就是识别我们身份的);选项B中，social-表示社会的、联系的选项C中，simila-表示社会的、联系的选项D中，mono-表示单独的。只有home-(相同的)和题干中考查词汇homo-(相同的)有相似的意思，那么答案就选C。
2.根据词语原来含义联想猜词义
例如：(真题2010年Text2)Curbs on business-method claims would be a dramatic about-face, because it was the federal circuit itself that introduced such patents with is 1998 decision in the so-called state Street Bank case, approving a patent on a way of pooling mutual-fund assets. about-face在我们军训中和一些涉及军事内容的国外电影中(比如《越狱》，《阿甘正传》)，我们经常可以听到，教练或军官发出这样的命令，这是向后转的意思。而在选项当中，只有选项C表达的转向、转变、变化的含义，我们优先考虑它，然后再看原文中about-face前面有个dramatic (急剧的)，而向后转都180了，不是急剧的嘛，因而答案更能确定了，选C。
3.根据标点符号猜词义
例如：(真题2004Text1)Instead, the best strategy is to use the agent as a kind of tip service to keep abreast of jobs in a particular database ; when you get E-mail, consider it a reminder to check the database again.
43. The expression tip service (Line 4, Paragraph 3) most probably means ________.

句子中的表示它前后的两个句子是并列关系，所表达的内容也应该是一致的。那么，分号前面的 tip service 就和后面的 a reminder形成并列，由此第43题可以快速找出答案，选D。
词汇题的解题关键是该单词并不重要，重要的要学会解剖这个单词，联想它的引申意思，用上下文中的关系找出该词语的同义词、近义词、反义词、原词、概括词或其解释说明等
