考研英语是选拨性考试，四六级为水平性考试，这两者在考察的深度上是及其不同的。那么这种差别体现在那些部分呢?从词汇考查的角度来说，这种区别主要体现在三个方面：1. 熟词生义;2.固定搭配;3.构词法。查字典公务员考研高老师将给大家带来一系列熟词生义的常见单词，希望2017年考生可以准确把握。
我们再来看看u和v部分的熟词僻意，它们往往在句子中起着重要的作用，不知道的话完全读不懂句子或者理解的意思和真实的意思南辕北辙。
1. underground
熟意：地(面)下的。
僻意：隐蔽的，秘密的;〔英国〕地铁=〔美国〕 subway
例句：Consequences follow from this, of course, some of which are that ambition is driven underground, or made sly. (2000年 Text 5)当然，这样带来了一些后果，其中的一些后果是(人们)将野心埋在心底，或者隐藏的很好。
2. universal
熟意：宇宙的，全世界的。
僻意：普及的，普通的。
例句： a universal maid 打杂女佣工。 a universal agent 总代理人，全权代理人。
What is the myth concerning giant dams? [D] They have universal control of the waters. (1998年 Text 2)有关大坝的迷信是什么?他们能够全方位控制水。
Since the days of Aristotle, a search for universal principles has characterized the scientific enterprise. (2012年 翻译) 从亚里士多德时代起，寻找普遍原则就成了科学事业的特点。
3. virtue
熟意： 美德，优点。
僻意： 效能，功效。
例句 ：drugs of great virtue 效力大的药。
by virtue of = in virtue of 靠，因，靠的力量
He was promoted in virtue of his abilities. 他是靠他的才能被提升的。
4. visible
熟意：看得见的，肉眼能见的。
僻意：显著的，显明的。
例句：What was less visible then, however, were the new, positive forces that work against the digital divide. (2001年 Text 2)然而,一些抵制信息差异的、新的积极因素那时还是不太明显的。
with visible impatience 带着显然不耐烦的样子。
5. very
熟意：〔用于修饰形容词、副词或分词〕很，甚，颇，极，非常。
僻意：〔加强语气，和 the, this, that 或 my, your, his 等连用〕那个，同一个，就是那个，正是那个;甚至于，连。
例句：He is the very man I saw yesterday. 他就是我昨天看见的那个人。 He is the very picture of his father. 他活像他父亲。
Even so, kings and queens undoubtedly have a downside, symbolic of national unity as they claim to be, their very historyand sometimes the way they behave today-embodies outdated and indefensible privileges and inequalities. 6. Voice
熟意：语声;嗓音。
僻意：说出来，讲出。
例句：voice opinions 发表意见。 Voice ones discontent 发牢骚，鸣不平。
The same dramatic technological changes that have provided marketers with more (and more diverse) communications choices have also increased the risk that passionate consumers will voice their opinions in quicker, more visible, and much more damaging ways. (2011年 Text 3)同样的技术大改革为市场营销者提供了更多的交流沟通选择(交流工具)，同时也增加了风险，因为情绪激动的消费者会用更迅捷，更显著，更具破坏力的方式来表达不满。
